# getting feedback
| ![[Sharing Ideas.svg\|150]] | sharing ideas[↗](https://xqcompetencies.xqsuperschool.org/?selection=OT.Creat.2.a)<br>`seeking feedback`<br>---<br>*I gain new insights on specific ideas and work by sharing them openly and asking open-ended questions with varied audiences.* |
| --------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
1. Identify what stage of your project work you're working on
2. Based on that, come up with a question to prompt feedback that will make sense for you to receive
| Stage | Example Question |
| ------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Stage 1<br>**Big Picture**<br> | I'm just starting out. What do you think of my overall idea & direction? |
| Stage 2<br>**Main Improvements**<br> | I've got a good start. Which parts should I focus on improving? Is there any part of my project that I should re-consider? |
| Stage 3<br>**Detail Work**<br> | I think I'm almost done. How can I polish the details and make sure everything is clear? |
| Stage 4<br>**Final Check**<br> | I think I'm finished. Can you check for any last mistakes? |
3. Gather feedback from at *least* 2 different people
4. Decide if you have received useful feedback and need ideas, or if you need to point feedback-givers toward a different aspect of your project
5. Update your feedback question to direct people toward the useful type of feedback you've been receiving
6. Gather feedback from at *least* 2 more people

# using feedback
| ![[Receiving Feedback.svg\|150]] | receiving feedback[↗](https://xqcompetencies.xqsuperschool.org/?selection=LL.SM.1.b)<br>`evaluating feedback`<br>---<br>*I analyze why people give me the specific points of feedback they do, and incorporate that into my decision of whether or not to choose to accept those points.* |
| -------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
1. Make sure you have all the feedback you've received in one place
2. Mark up all of your feedback as positive (+) or negative (-)
3. Re-word each piece of feedback into a *next step* you can take and sort into "Keep Doing" and "Change" columns
| Keep Doing | Changes to Make |
| ------------------------------ | --------------------------------- |
| - Add more…<br>- <br>- <br>- | - Update this…<br>- <br>- <br>- |
4. Keep working on your project and cross off your *next steps* as you make progress and they become less relevant
