> An "open loop" is a task you started, but did not complete
1. Start with your immediate environment; jot down any visible unfinished tasks
2. Review to-do lists, calendars, and anywhere else you take notes or plan work for lingering action items. Take note of any open loops
3. Think about your personal life – are there any open loops here?
4. Any tasks that will take less than 5 minutes, complete them now
5. Give every task that is not relevant to the project you want to work on a "Do Date" (when you will do it)

1. List any tasks you need to complete for the current project. Don't worry about sorting them yet; just get everything out of your head and onto sticky notes.
2. Create a 2-axis chart to sort your tasks `x: not urgent → very urgent` and `y: less important → really important`
3. Organize your tasks, placing any over-due tasks all the way to the right

1. Any urgent **and** important tasks that will take less than 5 minutes, do them now
2. Give any important, but **not** urgent tasks a "Do Date"
3. Choose what is most urgent and important to work on next (consider using a [[tomato timer]] to help you focus)
