> [!WARNING] Note
> This is a pretty vulnerable activity. It can be uncomfortable to see yourself on video.
> Make sure the team is on board with the idea. It's like how athletes review recordings of their games to improve their play.
During a group meeting or work time, set up a camera to record everyone.
Make sure the camera captures everyone's body language.
Record yourselves working together for 10-15 minutes.
---
Together, watch the video back. Individually, write down what you're noticing.
Consider the following:
*What were some of the best, most fun, or most productive moments? Why?*
*What were some of the worst, least fun, or least productive moments? Why?*
*What roles did the team members play? Who was the facilitator, devil's advocate, timekeeper, comic relief, and so on?*
*Who spoke the most? The least?*
*Who interrupted the most? Who was interrupted the most? The least?*
---
As a team, debrief what you noticed.
*What surprised you about seeing yourself this way?*
*What insights do you have for improving your team process going forward?*
*Is someone on your team interpreting what you're doing differently than you would?*
*What do you want to pat yourselves on the back for?*
*Is there anything you want to start doing? To stop doing?*
Write down what you plan to change about your process, then delete the video.
